If I ever hear anyone talking as if punters aren't a big deal, I will always refer them to the 2010 LSU game.

Score Board
Auburn - 24
LSU - 17
We should have won that game by 35 points, but they dominated the field position battle. LSU started 5 of their 11 drives at their own 40 yard line or better. And their punter pinned us behind our own 10 yard line on 5 of our 12 drives.
LSU drove 168 yards to score their 17 points and had only one other drive of 20 yards or more.
Auburn had to go 278 yards to score our 24 points, and also had a drive that went 77 yards and ended with a missed field goal. Auburn also had 5 other drives of over 20 yards that ended with either a punt, a turnover, or the end of a half.
Auburn dominated that day as if we were playing Louisiana-Monroe, not Louisiana State. Yet they had the game tied with 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter almost exclusively due to field position.
A good punter is a big deal, glad to know we have what should be another good one on the way.

Out of curiosity Bryan, would the coaches take Covington as a kicker with Hutchinson as the punter since Covington is listed as a top 10 kicker also?
And b. at the end of this article you say that Butker is the #1 Punter by 247, is he a punter/really good kicker or was that a typo?

Auburn was recruiting Covington as a punter. I'm not sure if they have any interest in him as a kicker but I will check.
Butker needs to be moved to kicker in our rankings and I think he will soon.
