Gus Malzahn on comparing Johnny Manziel to Cam Newton and defending Manziel.
Its gonna be a roller coaster ride Saturday. Im jacked.
Knock the hell out of him a couple of times. He will be more tentative and maybe pull a Clowny and save his body for the pros.
I like our RBs against their defense. Keep him off the field. Run at them all night. He can't score TDs from the sideline.
Hope Carl meets him head on when he does a 360 prior to scrambling. Also, knowing the tendencies of the receivers when he is flushed. He seems to know exactly where the will be. Mark of a great player and athlete.
Thanks Bryan. Looking forward to a great game!!
They key, in my opinion, is to have one more point at the end of the game. After watching Ole Miss I think this is possible. From my perspective we need to win the special teams p;articularly in punt and kick-off returns and be able to run the ball for over 250 yards and pass for over 200 yards and score 35 points to win. We have to be able to forget the last play and be real tough in the red zone where they are among the best. We definitely need a push up the middle on the pass rush without a big gap and keep our hands up to bat some passes down. Our secondary must keep their assignments covered when things break down. I don't think we can spy on him unless we use a defensive back in the middle who can take the right angles because it appears our linebackers could be over-matched one and one with JF. We will also need to stop them at least two times per half without a score. To do that we will need to have longer and slower drives at times to get more possession time and keep their offense off the field.( I believe Western Carolina had more possession time in the first half and was still way behind in the score.)
My thoughts are always positive with this team and coach and I like our chances even in Kyle Field.
