Tigers try to break skid tonight

Frankie Sullivan averages 18.3 points per game.

AUBURN - Auburn's men's basketball team will try to break a three-game losing streak tonight in the SEC-Big East Challenge at Auburn Arena. Tipoff time is set for 8. The game will be televised by ESPNU.

The Tigers go into the game at 2-4 after a disheartening 78-72 double overtime loss at home to Rhode Island last Sunday. DePaul is 3-3.

“For us to lose to Rhode Island the way we lost the game when we kind of had it in hand and some things just didn't go our way the last few minutes of the game, we just have to bounce back. We had a great practice on Tuesday and the guys are energized. We watched film and know exactly the mistakes we made. We will be ready to play."

Auburn is led by senior guard Frankie Sullivan, averaging 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Center Rob Chubb averages 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds.

DePaul is led by the high-scoring duo of forward Cleveland Melvin and guard Brandon Young. Young averages 20.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Young averages 16.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

Former Clemson coach Oliver Purnell has taken his running, pressing style to DePaul.

“DePaul is a very aggressive, pressing team," Barbee said. "That is what their coach is known for with his teams he had at Clemson. They really get after it. We are going to see a variety of presses. They are really aggressive out of it trying to get steals and trying to get easy baskets."
