    • I watched both RBs on ESPNU High School Kickoff this weekend and for big HS backs, both were impressive. Green looked great in his teams big blow out win and had better blocking than Bryant did in his teams loss, but either of these kids would be great gets for Auburn for a big, bruising RB

    • Thanks for the update Bryan. Overall the class looks very strong but is there any concern about the OL recruiting, or are we still too early to make any assumptions?

    • Bryan,
I receive recruiting updates from a business associate thru another website. This report stated that AU is in contention for 5 star CB Jalen Ramsey from Tenn. I'm not asking you to comment on some other website report, but do you have any information about AU's interest in this player?

    • Now that is a defense!!!, and if you add M.Adams and T.Matthews it will be one for the ages.

Auburn recruited Ramsey but wasn't really a finalist when he committed to USC last month. Ramsey has talked about going on his official visits and it's possible Auburn could be one. He visited Auburn for a Junior Day in January.

Not a whole lot of recruiting going on during preseason practice but that will change now that the season is getting started.

    • Great stuff Bryan, thanks!

Did Tray Matthews' chances go from good to average or did you downgrade that a week ago? I still think he is destined to be a tiger!

I moved it from Good to Average a week ago and I think Auburn has about a 50/50 shot of flipping him right now.

    • Hey BM, what do you think the chances are of Auburn landing M. Adams? Its seems that we are in his top 2.

Right now, excellent. There's a long way to go, however, and a lot can change in recruiting. The battle for Adams might not end until Signing Day.

    • It has to be a bit of a luxury to have the majority of the class wrapped up for the coaches. Its one thing to still be trying to lure some guys onto campus and wonder where you will stand ultimately. Its another thing to have most of the hay in the barn with just some clean up and maintenance left to go during the season.

Of course its never over with the 2014 class looming, but maybe they can find an extra hour here and there to coach up the ones we already have on campus.

    • Wonder if Reuben plans to live at home with his folks or move to the campus next year. Either way, mama's influence will be close at hand. That's a good thing.

    • I liked your note under the DLs "Auburn may take a fourth defensive lineman". I would bet the coaches are working their butts off to sign a certain DL.

On a serious note, I wonder what you are hearing about 2 of our DL commitments. Dee Liner and Carl Lawson have committed to AU but both are highly sought by others and both have had recent behavioral issues, I guess Dee more so and more recently than Carl but wasn't Carl sent home early from some big deal camp due to his behavior? I'm wondering how their actions have impacted the coaches thoughts. Are they both still solid commitments? Also, where they live could make them vulnerable to closer to home state schools.

Also, we have 3 commitments from players projected to be MLBs. It it possible that Foster's commitment might have an impact on the plans of Toney or Johnson?

      Thanks

Reuben will live on campus with the rest of the players. He'll probably be in the new dorms as long as they're finished on time.

Auburn is fully committed to both Liner and Lawson. Both may visit other schools but are very solid with Auburn right now. Trey Johnson is being signed by Auburn as an outside (Sam) linebacker. I wouldn't be surprised to see Foster get a look at one of the outside positions as a freshman just to get him on the field faster.

    • Bryan, am I correct in remembering that some twenty-five years back, the NCAA or perhaps some other governing body ruled that schools cannot provide a sports only dorm with meals planned just for their sport? I'm just interested in knowing how scattered around our players are - on or off campus these days. Thanks for your input.

This is correct in theory. The way other schools have been able to get around this rule is based on the way the rule is written. only a certain percentage of the students living in any building can be student/athletes..... so you build a very large building that can house all the athletes while still conforming to the proper ratio. Florida was the first to do this if I remember correctly.
