Moseley decides to give up football

AUBURN - Quarterback Clint Moseley, who started eight games over two Auburn seasons, has decided to give up football, his father confirmed to AuburnUndercover.com on Wednesday night.

Moseley met with offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee on Wednesday and made his decision.

"I'm still in shock," said Dean Moseley, Clint Moseley's father. "I had no idea. It was his decision."

Dean Moseley said his son will not transfer.

"He's going to stay at Auburn and get his degree," Dean Moseley said. "It's still 'War Eagle' as far as I'm concerned."

Moseley threw for 1,173 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions during his Auburn career.

As a sophomore in 2011, Moseley replaced Barrett Trotter in the second half against Florida in the seventh game of the season and helped the Tigers to a 17-6 victory. He started the next six games.

In 2012, Moseley replaced starter Kiehl Frazier to start the second half against Arkansas and started two games before being replaced by true freshman Jonathan Wallace.

Moseley was redshirted in 2009 and was the No. 3 quarterback behind Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and Trotter in the 2010 national championship season.

Moseley, part of former head coach Gene Chizik's first recruiting class in 2009, was named Alabama's Mr Football after his senior season at Leroy High School. He led Leroy to a 15-0 record and the 2A state championship as a senior.

With Moseley's departure, Auburn has two quarterbacks on scholarship - Frazier and Wallace. Carver High School's Jeremy Johnson has committed to Auburn.
