Jacobs: Decision was clear

Still need two more strong pieces. Malzahn was a great choice, in my opinion.

The only clear decision is that JJ is pathetic. Gus may be great. I sure hope so. But know full well that had a former coordinator not been available/willing (Chizik, Malzahn, Fisher, Petrino) we would be choosing among the runts of the coaching litter because we have a pathetic AD and executive process at AU incapable of thinking big and recruiting big.

Its a amazing all the hypocrisy and lack of faith with our fan base. First they applaud the inclusion of Bo and Pat, touting that are not puppets and are real AUburn men. Then when they don't hire the coach they want, they laud them for being puppets and not being AUburn men.

PM, I watched the press conference last night and Pat Sullivan had a great quote from Shug. Did you happen to catch it and can you provide it to the board? After hearing what Pat had to say it is quite understandable why BP wasn't in the final selection. Those of us who are Auburn graduates care about football success but we also love the whole university and its overall mission. Shug's quotation exemplifies what we needed in a coach and all leadership positions. I think they made an excellent choice.

If this is in reference to me, I said that those guys would never be puppets. However, I also stated that Jay Jacobs had his mind made up already and sorry but it makes too much sense that's the case. I think the search committee may have picked Gus as well, but where did those names come from and it is hard for me to believe it took that long to figure out a guy who was here in 2010. I mean really do you have to have a committee for that? The guy recruited a good number of the offensive players on the team.

I really wish someone would explain to me why they think Gus will fail?? History does not support these facts. He has been successful everywhere he has been, and there is no reason to think that will stop now.

He did not have his mind made up already, because this isn't the direction this was going at the outset.

The most interesting part of JJ's comments is at 5:53..............

I think this is a great hire, but obviously there have been serious conversations between Dr. Gogue and JJ concerning the Athletic Dept.
