An inquiry by the Alabama High School Athletic Association into the transfer of Auburn High School linebacker Reuben Foster from Troup County in LaGrange, Ga., has turned up no violations and Foster has been cleared to play for the Tigers this year.
“The Auburn High School athletic office ensures that any transferring student-athlete in in good-standing and in compliance with AHSAA requirements,” Auburn High School athletic director Clay McCall said in a written statement.
Foster, a 5-star inside linebacker who is committed to Auburn, met with the AHSAA representatives on Tuesday afternoon.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution erroneously reported Tuesday that the NCAA was scheduled to meet with Foster and his parents. The AJC has not written a retraction and several national media outlets including ESPN have since run with the incorrect story.
