A big official visit weekend just got much bigger for Auburn.
One of the nation’s top overall prospects has set up his final official visit to Auburn on Feb. 1.
“My last official visit is going to be to Auburn. They do deserve that official visit,” 5-star linebacker Reuben Foster said Monday night on the New College Football Show: Next Class 2013, which was aired on Fox Sports South.
Two 5-star defensive ends, Carl Lawson and Chris Jones, are also scheduled to visit Auburn Feb. 1 along with two Florida State commitments, 4-star offensive tackle Austin Golson and 4-star athlete Marquez White.
Four-star defensive end Tashawn Bower plans to be in Auburn that weekend on an unofficial visit while the Tigers’ coaches are hoping 5-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams will set up his final visit to Auburn Feb. 1.
Foster, 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds, officially visited Alabama last weekend.
“I was growing up loving Alabama and that’s where my heart was and might be now but you never know,” Foster said. “Right now, Alabama stands very high in my standings.”
Alabama coach Nick Saban visited Foster at his school last Friday and Foster spent a lot of time with Saban during his visit to Tuscaloosa.
“Coach Saban, he came out the heart and out the head and told me how it is and what it is and I was loving it at the moment,” Foster said.
This weekend, Foster will officially visit Georgia where he plans to spend time with freshman safety Tray Matthews, who enrolled at Georgia a week ago.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my brother Tray, who I call my brother and just meeting Coach (Todd) Grantham and Coach Mark Richt, who’s a Father worshiper,” Foster said. “And just meet all the new players coming in who can tell me about the staff and everybody.
“I look forward to all that.”
Foster officially visited Washington Jan. 11 and is still considering LSU. He plans to announce a decision on Signing Day or shortly thereafter. He said his final decision will come down to family.
“I’m a family man,” he said. “What Auburn has to provide for me is a family structure. Georgia has to provide the same thing. Alabama has to provide the same thing.
“I’m just a family dude and want to stay close to my little girl and my mother and just have a good family and be maybe eat my mom’s fried chicken every day.”
Foster is rated the nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker and No. 6 overall prospect in the 247Composite.
