Four-star quarterback Jason Smith is ready to make a decision, and he plans to do it Monday at 8 a.m..
4-star quarterback Jason Smith
Smith, from McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, has long had Auburn and Alabama at the top of his list. He has firm offers from both. He also has offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, Arkansas State and Memphis, among others. He will announce his choice at his school.
Last month, Smith, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, attended Auburn's camp. He left impressed, particularly by first-year offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler.
"It was amazing,” Smith said after the camp. “Listening to all he had to say and all that French he was throwing at me, that’s like getting ready for the next level. It’s going to be that way and he wants to prepare you for the future.”
Smith said Loeffler's resume was impressive.
“The things he did in the past - going to Michigan, coaching the best, Tom Brady - from him, that means a lot to me,” Smith said.
Smith took an unofficial visit to Auburn in May, and that was when the Tigers become one of his favorites..
“It was how we just bonded, everybody as a family,” Smith said. “We went out on the field and everybody linked up. We prayed if we wanted to. It’s something that some colleges don’t do. All they talk is football, football, football. But then sometimes you’ve got to have that downtime with your family and get to know each other.”
